 Nice Looking but PAINFUL Mar 12, 2010
My colleague and I by total chance bought this same shoe within days of each other. The shoes have caused us tremendous pain and bleeding in the area of our heels. I have never purchased a pair of shoes that was so difficult to break in. Nearly 2 weeks after purchasing them, I am still wearing a pair of athletic socks under my dress socks to minimize the discomfort of this nice looking but brutally painful footwear. The first few days, I even wrapped my feet with athletic tape to reduce the rubbing, friction and bleeding. Next time I'll go with Rockports or Johnson and Murphys.

These shoes are great if you need an inexpensive shoe for work or the occasional outing. Not the best made shoe but for the price it is unbeatable. I would recommend this shoe to anyone who is not willing to spend over 150 dollars for men's shoes for work. If these shoes get scuffed, dinged or scratched you can throw them away and not feel as if you wasted a lot of money. Also, they have a thick lacquer on them, so you don't have to waste money on expensive shoe polish, they will keep a shine for a long time. If contrasting leather is acceptable for what you're wearing these to, I would recommend the Bostonian Marco, which is real calfskin and a better made shoe.

I wear these to work (office job) and immediately the black paint (ink) started wearing off on the soles, exposing the light colored tan underneath...looks terrible. Did not get a chance to return...very dissapointed!!!

Defective product May 10, 2009
While I liked the shoes, a problem occurred which greatly diminished my enthusiasm for the shoes. It appears that the eyelets are punched too close to the edge of the flap and after a couple of months they ripped through. I bought 2 pair of these shoes and this occurred on both pair. I've never have had this happen before to me.
What else can I say but that I wouldn't buy them again.

The Bostonian Akron Oxford is my favorite dress shoe. They are very elegant and hold up well. It has a very nice leather sole as well. The price is more than many comparable brand but this is by far the best looking shoe for the price. You can't go wrong with these shoes!
